Italian Wine Adventure #7 Cirò!

Legends say that Cirò, a wine from the southern Italian province of Calabria, was first produced more than 3,000 years ago and is the oldest continually produced wine in the world!

Legends also say that Cirò was the wine the Greek gods drank while watching the original Olympic Games.

So, like, maybe it’s time you found out for yourself what this wine called Cirò is all about! Considered the flagship wine of Calabria, Cirò can be a crowd-pleasing, easy drinking red wine that goes great with grilled foods and cookouts, picnics, and dining al fresco.

In this episode we learn about the roots of this classic Italian wine that is, unfortunately, not well known outside of Italy, and we taste and review three Cirò wines to let you know if they are worth seeking out. Hint hint - at least two of them are!

Wines reviewed in this episode: 2019 Baroni Capoano Cirò Rosso Classico, 2019 Segno Librandi Cirò Rosso Classico, and 2019 Scala Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore.
