We are thrilled to share that The Wine Pair Podcast has been featured in another Chowhound article, this time titled "10 Wines Under $15 You Need To Buy At Target, According To Sommeliers."
We know that Target runs are a weekly ritual for many of you (us included!), and while their wine aisle is huge, it can be tricky to navigate. So, when Chowhound asked us to identify the bottles that are actually worth your money, Joe was ready with four reliable favorites that are easy to find and super affordable.
Here are the four wines Joe recommended in the article:
Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava ($12.99) Joe called this his "quick call" pick—the bottle he would grab without hesitation if he needed something he knew would be good. He noted that even though this Spanish sparkler is "quite delicious and festive, it is still really inexpensive." Plus, that black bottle always looks cool on a table!
Chateau Ste Michelle Harvest Select Riesling ($10.00) Joe loves to champion Washington wine, and this is a great one. He described it as "safe, but interesting because it is not the typical Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio." It’s a slightly sweet, fruit-forward wine that Joe specifically recommends pairing with spicy or fried foods.
Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages ($12.00) Joe agreed with fellow sommelier Megumi Calver on this classic French choice. He made sure to point out that the Villages level is "a much better wine" than the Beaujolais Nouveau that comes out at Thanksgiving, noting that it is fantastic with spicy dishes.
Treveri Cellars Blanc de Blancs ($15.00) If you want a sparkling wine that is made like real Champagne but costs a fraction of the price, this is Joe's go-to. He told Chowhound, "You can hardly do better than the Treveri Cellars Blanc De Blanc," especially if you prefer a drier style of bubbles over sweeter options like Prosecco.
It is always an honor to share our tips for drinking well on a budget. Next time you are on a Target run, grab one of these bottles and let us know what you think!
