WTF is Gewürztraminer?

Think all white wines are thin, low alcohol, pool-side, warm-weather, ice cube-in-your-wine-glass sippers? Well, don’t believe it!

Take this week’s wine - Gewürztraminer.

Gewürztraminer is a big, full-bodied, spicy, high alcohol white wine that goes great with spicy Thai food, and is a perfect pairing with Thanksgiving dinner.

Gewürz means spicy in German, and when we say spicy, we mean spicy! Baking spices pour out of this wine - like cinnamon, allspice, and cloves - making it the perfect wine for Fall or Winter.

We taste and review three Gewürztraminer wines from the US and France, and let you know if we think any of them are worth adding to your Holiday table or for a quiet night by the fire.

Wines reviewed in this episode: 2021 Chateau Ste Michelle Gewürztraminer, 2022 B Lovely Gewürztraminer, and 2021 Arthur Metz Vin d’Alsace Gewürztraminer.
