Verdicchio has been called by some Italy’s best white wine, and even The King of White Wines, but we are betting you haven’t heard of it, or haven’t tried it. We are here to tell you - try it.
Verdicchio is a rich, complex white wine, and depending on how it is made, it can be oaky and rich or it can be full of tropical fruit and citrus - much like a Chardonnay.
In this episode, we try three different Verdicchio wines, and we can attest that they can be very different from each other.
Verdicchio is a great fall and winter wine, a great wine for creamy sauces and sashimi, and a wonderful Holiday wine. And for those of you who think that white wines are just too dainty and light, you need to try Verdicchio. Some even call it a red wine disguised as a white wine!
Wines reviewed in this episode: 2021 Velenosi Querciantica Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico, 2021, Garofoli Supera Verdicchio di Matelica, and 2018 Bucci Verdicchio Classico dei Castelli di Jesi
