GSM blends are one of the two classic red wine blends known all over the world - so they are definitely something you need to have in your repertoire.
Red wine blends can be confusing and frustrating because, more often than not, the wine bottle will not say what grapes are in the blend. And if you don’t know the grapes, how can you know if you will like the wine?
Well, we are here to help solve the mystery.
Made from Grenache, Syrah or Shiraz if you are in Australia, and Mourvèdre (get it - GSM?!?), these wines are most famously from the Côtes du Rhône in France, but can be found nearly anywhere red wines are produced.
Known to be fruity, spicy, and food friendly, GSM blends can be crowd-pleasers as well as elegant formal dinner wines.
In this episode, we talk about what GSM blends are, and we taste and review three GSM wines and tell you which ones we think you should buy.
Wines reviewed in this episode: 2017 Domaine Saint Gayan Trescartes Côtes du Rhône, 2017 d'Arenberg The Stump Jump GSM, and 2017 Les Alexandrins Terrasses de l'Eridan Côtes du Rhône.
